GENERAL INFO
What sort of game is Uploaded 2.0?
Uploaded 2.0 is a technological/psychological horror game with elements of existentialism, loss of freewill, and virtual reality. Your character has been cloned and will be thrust into a multitude of different settings for the entertainment of an unknown entity. With each setting, characters will receive roles to assist in the plot progression of the current scenario. Failure to follow the roles they have been given will result in consequences in the form of glitches that will “assist” them in completing their part.How will my character arrive in the world of Uploaded 2.0?
Within this game, there is the potential for body horror, violence, death, psychological trauma, and sexual situations (18+ characters only). We wish to be upfront about this potential to avoid any confusion or surprise for those looking at the game. If you feel as if you may have qualms with this scenario, it is encouraged that you do not apply.
Every setting will last for two to three months and have four to six major events. Additionally, players can navigate the setting, and use glitches / role consequences as supplementary events to influence their character development and build CR with other players. As a particular scenario comes to an end, applications will open, and we will launch the next game environment.
In addition to each setting’s plots, players will also uncover the circumstances surrounding the entity that controls them, and work towards escaping its grasp.
Your character has been coded into the program that contains the settings of this world. They will awaken with a sharp consciousness and detailed recall of their memories up to whatever canon point you have picked. The character themselves will be coded into existence line by line. This initial process looks like a hybrid of a 3D Printer and an MRI. Once this loading procedure has finished, your character will awaken to find themselves strapped to an observation table in the supine position. Metal bonds will secure your character at their wrists, ankles, and midsection. These straps will restrict character movement and provide little give. A white, cylindrical machine surrounds your character. A projected screen will appear before the character as they are strapped into the machine. This display has two-way audio and visual capabilities, though it is rare for an A.I. or an outside entity to respond/converse with the characters in the machines. Instead, the projection screen is typically used to explain setting and role directives to characters before they are released into the new setting.

How does time pass within this game?

The current projected run of the game will be anywhere between a year and a half to two years. Each setting will run for approximately 2 to 3 months. Each month will hold 2 major events for the setting’s plot.What are the communities and how do they work?
Is there a system to tagging posts?uploadedmain is the primary log community of Uploaded 2.0. Formatting for logs can be found in a sticky on the community’s page. All mingle logs and independent player threads will go to this community.
The format of your post tags should follow this rule: umbrella series name: character name If a character has an alias in which they are better known as, please include it in parenthesis after their name. Follow the naming conventions of your character's country of origin.How does death work within this game?

When your character dies in a setting, they will be reprinted within 24 to 72 hours of their death. The exact time is up to player discretion and may vary on a case by case basis. Characters will return with all of their memories, unless the glitch they are affected by messed with their memories.What are the roles?
After a character dies, they will be met with consequential “glitches” in the setting - as their re-appearance will not be compatible with the setting’s narrative. Players are allowed to pick which death glitches will affect their character. The list of death glitches can be found here.
Your character may die as a result of their role. If this happens, your character will return within the standard 24 to 72 hour timeframe. NPCs will no longer recognize the character and treat them as a stranger. The revived character will have a spotty memory of the circumstances of their “plot-related” death, and may gain a death consequence. Other characters who witnessed or know about the character's death will retain all memory of the occurrence.
Every new setting comes with a plot. Attached to these plots are specific character roles that will be filled via random generator. These roles may range from “town sheriff” to “vampire” to “the town drunk.” Every role is working towards a goal to help move the plot forward. If a character is assigned a role and chooses to not follow their role, they will have to deal with consequences. These consequences will slowly grow more severe until a character finally complies with the role they’ve been given.How are roles distributed?
All characters within the game will be randomly assigned a role upon the start of a setting. In later rounds, players may use their activity points to “buy” a spot in more plot-heavy/plot-reliant roles. This tier of roles will still have randomly generated assignments to ensure variety.Will there be a network within this game?
The network will be accessible in all settings, though it may take different shapes depending on the level of technology available in the setting. Please refer to this page for more information.Does this game function under prose or brackets?
Either form of post is acceptable within the community, so choose what you are most comfortable with.
APPLICATION | CHARACTER
When are applications open?
Applications will open between every setting, during the last week of that setting's plot. At times this will be bimonthly, and at other times it will be trimonthly. Please keep an eye on our calendar for updated information.Are there reserves in this game?
The current setting will run from December - January, meaning applications will open during the last week of January.
There are no reserves for Uploaded 2.0. Applications for the same characters will be judged on a first come, first serve basis.Is this a capped game?
Yes, Uploaded 2.0 is capped at 60 characters. Due to the low overall cap, players may only have one character in game at any time.What is the cast cap?
Our current cast cap is 7.Can I apply for a character with the same name from a different canon? What about duplicates?
If the characters are distinctively their own, you may still apply. For example, Hijikata Toushizou from Hakuoki and Hijikata Toushizou from Golden Kamui are entirely different characters, and would thus both be playable in game concurrently.Is there an age limit to the characters I can apply for?
However, we will not allow duplicate characters. If there is a Peter Parker from the MCU in game, we would not permit a Peter Parker from the PS4 title at the same time.
Yes, our age limit is 12. However, please note that characters under the age of 18 may not, under any circumstances, participate in sexual situations.I want to apply for a non-human character. Do I need to humanize them? What about my extremely tall, or very short character?
Characters who are non-human in appearance will change with the settings. Some settings may allow for a character to take their true form, and some may require humanization. In our first setting, non-human characters will need a human appearance.What about my character's powers?
As with a character's appearance, powers will be addressed from setting to setting. Some settings will allow a character wider usage of their powers than others. In our current setting, all characters will have their powers completely nerfed.How do I canon update?
You may canon update between settings by filling out the form here. Your character will simply be printed with their new canon memories, appearance, and details. Any memories of time already spent in the system will remain, though their memories may be somewhat difficult to piece together chronologically.Do you accept OCs? Canon OCs? Versions of characters from other games? AU!versions of characters?
Uploaded 2.0 accepts OCs, CR AU, and Canon AU versions of characters. Canon OCs may be accepted on a case by case basis. If you have any questions, please contact us via PM.Is there a ratio of headcanon to canon required to apply a character?
We have no set ratio of headcanon to canon. All we ask is that your personality section clearly reflects a thorough knowledge of the character's thoughts, motivations, and behaviors. Applications with a higher headcanon ratio may be scrutinized more heavily, as we have little canon basis to judge against.My character is from a game with multiple routes, how should I approach this?
Multi-route characters may be applied for. If their personality changes dramatically depending on the route, please choose your specific route and adhere to that as your reference point. If this is not the case, feel free to pull from all the routes as reference for their personality.May I app my character from a point in canon where they are younger/older than their usual canon self?
You may alter the age of your character up to 2 years outside of any age they appear in canon. For example, a character shown to always be 18 may be apped in with the age range of 16-20. A character who spends the duration of their canon at age 20, only to be shown in 5 year time skip at the end may be apped in with the age range of 18-27. Characters who only appear a certain age in flashbacks will be judged on a case by case basis.My character is dead in canon - what canon point should I use?
You may use any canon point you desire. You may take them from the moment before their death, or they may wake up in Uploaded after having met their demise.My character has a serious/terminal illness, how will this be addressed in game? My character is missing an eye/leg/arm/et cetera….
Characters with illnesses may either be cured or suffer from a static version of that disease, at player discretion. For example, a debilitating lung condition could be cured by the system, or continue to affect your character's quality of life, but it will never be the lone cause of their death.May I bring my character's familiar/animal with them?
Characters missing limbs or other body parts will be given setting specific accommodations. A science fiction setting might replace the limb with an entirely new, fully functioning cybernetic version, while a more modern setting might offer a simple prosthetic.
You may purchase your character's familiar or pet with your bonus activity points. Please note that this creature will be nerfed along with your character - some settings may permit for its powers, and others may not.My character has a very important item/heirloom/et cetera…

Characters cannot become pregnant in Uploaded. You may app in a character who is pregnant in canon, but their term will be frozen at their canon point?My canon has no official English translation, may I still app from it?
You may, so long as you are able to link a reliable fan translation. If there is no English material whatsoever, we apologise, but we cannot assure consistency without a basis for comparison.
ACTIVITY | HIATUSES | DROPS
What is the activity requirement in Uploaded 2.0?
You will be required to provide two (2) of the following proofs during each monthly activity check:When will activity checks be?A log thread with five (5) comments from your character.TDM threads are eligible for activity, as are inbox threads. However, inbox threads will always count as network comments. We recommend moving any log comments from your inbox to a post on the game's log community.
A network thread with ten (10) comments from your character.
Activity will run for the last three days of each month. If you are unable to post your activity for any reason, please PM the mod account to discuss your situation. We know life happens, and we will work with you.What if I forget activity?
We will not post a warning list. If you do not post to activity in time, you will automatically gain a strike. If you fail to post to activity after acquiring a strike, you will be removed from the game. Players who idled out will need to wait an application round before applying again.How do strikes work?
You are only permitted one strike. However, strikes will be cleared from your record after four months.How long can I go on hiatus? What happens to my role if I need to hiatus?
You may hiatus up to a month in game at a time. If you need to hiatus longer, please PM the mods so we can discuss your situation. Life happens, if you have a major role and need to hiatus, we will work with you on a case-by-case basis.If I drop, how long do I need to wait to app back?
If you fill out the form on the drop page, there is no required waiting period to reapp. If you idle out, you must wait out one app cycle before applying back to the game.How does bonus activity work?
Start by posting a top-level comment here, on the bonus activity page. There, you will also find more specific instructions on how to fill out your monthly - optional - bonus activity. A quick rundown follows:Log Tags (minimum of 5 comments) - 2 pointsPoints will be capped at 100 per month, with one exception. A bonus 15 points will be rewarded for every 5 characters you have tagged, rounded down. As it is impractical to track this on an overarching scale, you may re-submit characters month to month. You may use your activity threads for bonus activity.
Network Tags (minimum of 10 comments) - 1 point
NETWORK

In settings where your character may post to a forum, social media, or chat service - they will have a screen name that they have picked. It is recommended that your character use the same screen name throughout in order to avoid confusion, though this is not required.Can my character accidentally post to the network?
In network posts that would typically have a username attached to them, you will be required to include your username in the post formatting. For more information on how to format network posts, please check out this page and follow those instructions.
Accidental network communications are as easy as they are in real life. From butt dialing to forum misfires, you are welcome to incorporate these communication mishaps into your play.Can my character post anonymously to the network?
Typically, the settings will allow for characters to post anonymously to the network. Please follow the network labeling guidelines to do so. You will still need to post with your actual character’s dw account to avoid confusion.Can my character break/lose their phone/tablet/computer/et cetera?
Yes, it’s just as easy and unfortunate as it is in real life. Sometimes in settings these can be replaced by a trip to the store. Other times… maybe someone will let you borrow theirs. Hopefully.Can my character use another character’s computer/tablet/phone/et cetera?
Yes, but this must be discussed between muns so there are no issues.

What defines a ‘sexual situation?’
A ‘sexual situation’ can be defined as anything which refers to reproductive organs or sexual acts beyond general vulgarity. I.E. a character who says “fuck this” to express frustration is not engaging in a sexual situation, but a character who says “I’m going to fuck you” with actual intent is engaging in a sexual situation. If an interaction focuses on sexual implications, it would be considered a sexual situation. If you have to ask or wonder, then it probably is. If it is a sexual situation, you must be sure to label your log with the proper warnings.A player is making me uncomfortable, what do I do?
